About Ably

  1. A couple more from tonight- Guild Missions up first! Guild rush is definitely top tier end game content, but I did manage to finish the quaggan one at least gw007.bmp And here's a run of the T3 Fractal dailies + Recs that we did afterwards. Took us maybe an hour? One day I'll have an ascended staff and will do T4 fractals, but I refuse to level up artificer to 500- I'll just wait for one to drop! gw010.bmp
  2. Figured I'd toss in a couple things from the last few days! Still working on 150 AR to participate in CM's, but hopefully next week I'll be done! Here was my guild orientation with Ars and Clay! This was my first time ever being in a guild hall (or discord). Exciting stuff! gw003.bmp And here's Peu's event train from last night- this was the part where my MacClient almost crashed from so many particles gw005.bmp
  3. Now that you've read the rules and expectations do you agree to follow them? Yes! Let's start with your preferred name... Chris Preferred personal pronoun? He/Him May we ask your age? 23 What is your Arena Net Display Name? (user.1234) CobOfCorn.6352 How did you hear about Reborn of Embers? My old guild mate Clay! I believe he might be an officer/recruiter. Our events are typically in the evening of the Eastern time zone. Are you available during these times? How often do you play each week? I've been playing almost every day lately, however when I return to work, I'll most likely only be able to play a few days a week. I get off work around each daily reset, so I'm available most of the time around 8-9PM onwards. What is your favorite game mode and what do you like most about it? I think WvW is my favorite at the moment. When I first started playing the game, I was strictly PvP with a little bit of interest in PvE. I did everything with my guild, so I was exposed to it all, but I was much more competitive back then. I took a break for a few years while I was in college (I left right as HoT dropped), and I'm now drawn more towards the sense of community that WvW offers. I still do PvE, Fractals, Dungeons, and I'm interested in raids, but aside from dailies I really don't touch PvP. Are there any game modes you are interested in learning and what is holding you back? Raids especially! I barely played GW2 at all in college, and went back to finish up GWAMM in GW1, so I've never been inside a raid and know very little about each. I'm definitely drawn to the more challenging content in this game, so I would absolutely love to learn a few and be able to participate. What classes do you play, which is your favorite and what do you like most about it? I've gained thief since launch, but currently, I've been playing a lot of warrior, elementalist, and guardian. I really enjoy the skill ceiling of thief, however I think it's a bit too volatile for me nowadays. I think thief abilities get nerfed and changed pretty frequently compared to most classes, and coming back to thief now feels so much different than it did back then. I've been playing a lot more supportive roles recently, and I've really been enjoying myself. I think having a bit more armor and toughness helps as well, so that I'm able to make mistakes and not play as competitive as I maybe used to. What are your favorite and least favorite things about a guild? I think a guild really provides a strong sense of community if it's a good fit. Clay and I's first guild WP was super tightly knit, and it made the game so much more enjoyable. I think I tend to burn myself out trying to do so many things in this game without help or the support of others, so it's nice to have a group of people there who are willing to hold events, raids, or whatever it is that's happening. I think my least favorite thing in a guild would be drama, without a doubt. It seems that eventually every guild kind of falls into it here and there, but it's the absolute worst when you lose friends to something that could have been avoidable. Hopefully at this point in the games life, everyone who is here playing still is here for a reason, and I would assume most guilds are a lot more stable compared to launch/ the first couple years after. Pineapple, does it belong on pizza? Absolutely. Tell us a little about yourself. What do you enjoy outside of gaming. My name is Christian, or Chris! I just graduated college last May, so it's been almost a year of having a ton of free time again- I definitely had to find some hobbies again and get used to not doing both school and work full time. I'm moving in with my girlfriend soon and we're getting a dog, which is something that I've wanted to do for such a long time now, so that's exciting. I've been working as a tattoo artist for the last few years, and that's something that's super important to me. I spend the most of my free time drawing, which is a side effect of my job- I don't have specific shifts, so I take my work home with me most nights. I also love reading, and that's also something that I try to do every day- this recent quarantine has been pretty great for that (haha). What other games do you play? Guild Wars 1, most importantly! I just finished 100%ing it a couple weeks ago, and it was a very, very rewarding moment. That's a super important game to me. I do have a PS4, and I play a few other games, mostly RPG or medieval themed stuff. The Dark Souls franchise is definitely a standout, but I also love Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, and Stardew Valley. The older I've gotten, the more I'm looking for games with heavier story elements, and right now, I'm playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Who’s your favorite all time video game character? No question- Siegmeyer of Catarina from Dark Souls. He's a dude in huge onion armor who always hums, eats too much, and takes naps. There's a fight in Dark Souls 3 where he essentially one-shots a crazy looking boss, and then sits down next to you and takes a nap while snoring. Quality content.
